Batman has been almost a legend among the fans and apparently they seem to know exactly who can or cannot play his role.
Ben Affleck was actually prohibited to play the hero in the movie by their fans. They sent out a letter and a petition to the White House in order to ask for help to the President of the USA, Barack Obama not to let Affleck play any hero role for the next 200 years. Well, their plan went wrong because the petition has already been removed for breaking the rules of the place.

Ben Affleck was chosen by Warner Brothers to play Batman in the next movie
In the feature film, scheduled to debut in 2015, Affleck will succeed Christian Bale in the role. History will join Batman to Superman on the big screen.
Warner believes that Affleck will make a good contrast with Henry Cavill.
Zack Snyde, the film's director, revealed that Affleck's age(41 years) also contributed to the decision. Being older than Cavill (30 years), may represent a more sensible and experienced character, but at the same time, maintaining the charm of the eccentric millionaire Bruce Wayne / Batman.
